Amazing game!! So underrated. Played it on Steam and came to itch just to leave a comment to say it's cool. Literally such a perfect demo with great pacing, foundation laying, and cliffhangers.
Can't wait to see how the game progresses! Dealing with publishers, pitching, and development challenges is really tough but you've got another fan cheering you on!!
🎣 I didn't expect the story to draw me in so much. I even grew to like my wife, boss, and Otis (my lake bud). So what happens later in the game genuinely made me .... D:
The mini fishing games were challenging, but not as challenging as maneuvering the boat for me lmao.
I'm excited for the full game and the 'green game'! 🧡
Hi there! I'm not entirely familiar with the complexities of releasing on MacOS but as I'm not a Mac user myself, this may be dependent on publisher input. I know that the engine does allow for Mac builds though, I just unfortunately can't give a definite answer at this point in time. I'm hoping so!
Hi! Is the download button not appearing? If you're unable to access it here for whatever reason, the same demo is also available on Steam for free too.
I think what they're referring to is trying to install this game on the itch.io app, when you click install it doesn't bring up anything to install so you just can't install it on the app (download works fine on the wesbite tho)
Good morning, afternoon or evening!! I just finished playing the demo and I really really liked the story, music, mechanics and everything else! Though I encountered a little problem: when restarting the day after losing a boss fight, all the upgrades I bought were restarted too (it was like i haven't bought them at all). I know that this is not the finished version but I wanted to point it out just in case.
Anyways, the demo's great and enjoyable so I'm looking forward to playing the full game, keep up the good work!!! 🩷
Hi there! Oops - that definitely wasn't intentional, and that's the first time someone's mentioned it so thanks for letting me know. I've added it to my list and I'll make sure it gets fixed, this is why it's so useful to let people play the demo. I hope it didn't ruin the experience too much for you!
I JUST REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A DEMO... i recorded the whole thing and ima have to make a series of 6 videos for all this dam footage, amazing game yo.
Yes, Normal Fishing has gamepad support and the same demo is available to download on Steam - just search for Normal Fishing and you should be able to find it.
I just p[ayed this game live and I enjoyed it. The gameplay and creepiness were on point, i especially enjoyed the music. I will definitely stay up to date about the other games
Thanks for playing! We're working hard on making the rest of the game so don't worry, Normal Fishing will be back, and you'll see how the story unfolds.
I started watching Manly's playthrough of this, but decided to stop because I wanted to play it myself. I really love shmups and Totally Normal Games, so this is right up my alley. Super excited for the full release!
really great game, jsut hated that everything was so hasty due to the time limit.
like sadly, i often messed up when I was close to having beaten down a fish but soke random junk wasn just one pixel too close, so i had to fish it up. haing wasted the time. AND having to do the stupid reeling game to reel it in, despite junk being worthless. so often i just had like 2 normal fish, worth like 40 each. so yeah, couldnt exactly buy much upgrades.
i literally never got to explore the cave since you only have like 1 day to explore it and i never got to it. and let lone doing al th quests, the damn time limit stopped me from even finding what was written there.
and like the roofish or such, i might have managed to hook it (if not above junk colletion) but the reeling was jsut too damn hard for me. upgrades would have helped but given that each day basically was like 2 levels harder and further in the story, with already new stuff and quests.
you really just cant take your time to explore and do stuff the wa, the game implies you can do.
maybe, in th new game modes, i can finally jsut finish long and chilled and do things at a slow pace.
nonetheless obvously got to the end, even though i was sad about not really having the fight i was hoping for.
looking forward to however this game mayevolve further on :-)
Sorry you felt rushed - I'm not sure if you missed it in the tutorial, but the time only advances when you make a fishing attempt. So basically you can explore the entire lake as much as you like and only advance the clock when you try to catch a fish. This gives you a chance to talk to everyone, look for the rare fish etc.
In terms of having issues with catching junk, the trick is to stay back and draw the fish in closer enough, giving you a better chance to avoid junk and rush forward to catch it at the end.
Thanks for playing though, I appreciate you seeing it through to the end!
maybe I'm jsut not good with my eyes but I couldnt eactly distinguish from the shadows the different fish kinds(of it wasnt an eel or seomthing obvious) so I often jsut caught the same 2 kinds of cheap fish
My English is not my native language, so I don’t know much about the plot. However, the early game did get my love as an "arcade game" style. The later "God Fish" led to "breaking the fourth wall in the game" and made the plot more interesting. It's even more terrifying, especially the first person at the end, which is a play within a play
Thanks for playing, I loved seeing your reaction to all the big moments and this is exactly the kind of energy and reaction that I was hoping for. Hope you come back to play the full thing when it's done!
If you have the time I recommend seeing the demo through to the end - it was great to see you enjoy it, but there's something quite unexpected waiting for you beyond...
That's so cool! i am still shocked of how good it is, i downloaded the game not genuinely thinking it was a normal fishing game, but when i was playing it, i get so imerse with the characters and all the being a fisherman thing, that when the plot started, it was just like a shock. very well constructed enviroment.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much! I knew what I was trying to do with the game (and the demo) but I didn't expect people to enjoy it as much as they have and it's been amazing seeing everyone get really into it. Thanks for the support and I hope you love the game when it's finished!
Thanks for making me aware of this - I'm still getting to grips with releasing things on Itch and didn't know that was an issue. I'll look into this later today and get a build uploaded asap!
I REALLY LIKE THE GAME AND HOW THE GAMEPLAY FEELS IT REMINDS ME THOSE FARMING GAMES BUT A LITTLE TWIST. ALSO I REALLY LIKE THE FISHING MINI GAME AND HOW SEOMTIMES YOU FIND TREASURE IN THEM KEEP IT UP DUDE!!! STAY SAFE GOD BLESS!!
To be honest I'm not completely sure - the option for mature content states "not suitble for minors" and the full game will deal with some quite dark content. Perhaps my understanding of the rating and how this game compares is actually not quite accurate. I'll look into it!
having watched a playthrough of the demo, this game absolutely should be marked as adult, i would not let a child anywhere near this game despite how amazing it looks (and it definitely looks so amazing!)
Itch has no actual age rating. Their effective rating is 13+ and 18+. You need to be 13 to use itch according to their tos, and they have a section that you can activate, that is in all intents and purposes for adults. But is vaguely named non safe for work. Or not suitable for minors.
Age ratings for games and movies are different around the world, and how they are enforced. Itch is US based, and the US ratings for video games are E (0), E10, T (13), M (17), A (18), with several additions. Also different around the world is, what would require a higher rating. Violence in general will give higher ratings in Europe and Sexual content will give higher ratings in US and vice versa.
But your game is not officially rated anyways. Maybe it will be for your Steam presence.
In practial terms, unless it is porn or graphic ultra violence, it will be a rating of less than 18, and itch does not care if it is 13 or 17.
From your comments I gather, you would rate it 17.
Steam might give you this warning message, if they also deem it 17.
THIS GAME MAY CONTAIN CONTENT NOT APPROPRIATE FOR ALL AGES,
Nudity is not considered adult only. It might be on itch, since they do not have any 17 rating or other mature content labels.
They vaguely tell you this: "If you have a project page that has strong adult themes, then it must be marked."
Whatever that means. What is an adult theme? What is an adult theme but not a strong adult theme? Is the graphic depictions of those themes relevant? And so on. And what is considered adult or strong adult would also vary with your location, but the developers come from all around the world with different cultural standards. You can show nudity in day time tv in Europe.
In practical terms, sexual stuff has to be marked. Nudity might need to be marked because of their equally vague not safe for work wording. Gore and violence might have to be marked, but looking at all those horror games, it might not be enforced for all but the most extreme games.
A notable non sexual example would be Fear & Hunger. It was released on itch and steam. But it never got an official esrb rating. Yet it is restricted on Steam and on Itch, maybe by the creator's own rating, maybe by people categorizing it.
Pragmatically, if youtube restricts streaming of the game, it probably has to be marked. And if not, then probably not.
The and in English is not a logical AND operator that has imaginary brackets around the operands. The concepts exist separatly and if you cite them together with an "and", you do connect them, but not to make them a new term, but to apply the thing said before to both.
A new term would have been sexualized nudity or nudity with sex. As the esrb sees it, they have their own category and you can get an esrb rating separatly for sex, and for nudity, and in varying degrees. https://www.esrb.org/ratings-guide/ They do include partial nudity in "sexual content" though, so you will get that one for free ;-)
Thank you! This demo was around 6 months of work as it started with me learning a few things about the engine, which took some time. The other segments of the game will probably be faster to develop though.

Nice! Love the vibes!

fucking rules man, god speed
Saw it played on Game Grumps and I want to support the project but I don't have a PC. Any plans for Switch or Playstation releases?
Any plans to support MacOS in the final release?
Hi there! I'm not entirely familiar with the complexities of releasing on MacOS but as I'm not a Mac user myself, this may be dependent on publisher input. I know that the engine does allow for Mac builds though, I just unfortunately can't give a definite answer at this point in time. I'm hoping so!
I hope so, too! I watched the Game Grumps play the first part, and I want to get my hands on your game. Thank you!
I did not expect the demo to be this long lol really good game! can't wait for the full release
The demo version was so cool, I didn't expect that. Looking forward to the full game:)))
can anyone else not download it? :(
Hi! Is the download button not appearing? If you're unable to access it here for whatever reason, the same demo is also available on Steam for free too.

Had a great time with what's out so far! Can't wait to see where it goes. :)
Thanks! We're working hard on the rest of it, check out the Discord linked in the description if you want to come along for the ride.

Yeah a few people are surprised when they realise it haha. It's good to hear you had a great time with it though!
Damn that was a serious demo lol Nice stuff! Excited for more
Full Demo NO Commentary
Cool. Will there be gamepad support? Available on steam?
Yes, Normal Fishing has gamepad support and the same demo is available to download on Steam - just search for Normal Fishing and you should be able to find it.

Thanks! Check out the discord (link in description) if you want to see updates on where the game is going.
And if you want to see how the audio comes along I'd recommend following @dBXYLevi on Twitter/X
for some reason i cant download
Hi, can you give me more details so I can look into it? I'm not sure what could cause that.
the issue didnt happen on the itch.io browser version. It just didnt gime me the button to download before.
Really, really awesome. The action parts are super fun, and the story is creepy and perfect. Can't wait to finish the mystery!
Thanks for playing! We're working hard on making the rest of the game so don't worry, Normal Fishing will be back, and you'll see how the story unfolds.
Can I just say this game is absolute fire. Love this kinda stuff and I would gladly pay for a longer version. Keep it up bro, its solid af
I started watching Manly's playthrough of this, but decided to stop because I wanted to play it myself. I really love shmups and Totally Normal Games, so this is right up my alley. Super excited for the full release!

I absolutely adored every second of this. Top tier stuff.
This game legitimately blew me away. The style and story got me so hyped for the full release! Amazing job!

Very interesting gameplay and plot.
could you please release an exe bundle (not zip) otherwise its not possible to install the game via Itch game launcher?
Thanks for making me aware of this - I'm still getting to grips with releasing things on Itch and didn't know that was an issue. I'll look into this later today and get a build uploaded asap!
I love my weird wife!
I sure hope nothing happens to my weird wife!
Why is this marked as Adult?
Depictions of death and gore (though obscured by low resolution). Increasingly so in the full release, as this is currently a demo.
I thought the adult rating was only for nudity and sex?
In my personal opinion, the gore isn't THAT bad...
Besides, doesn't marking a game as Adult hide said game from general audiences?
To be honest I'm not completely sure - the option for mature content states "not suitble for minors" and the full game will deal with some quite dark content. Perhaps my understanding of the rating and how this game compares is actually not quite accurate. I'll look into it!
